Why does Reigns keep fighting Show?

They wrestled tonight and the ending of the show just about confirmed there will be a rematch at Extreme Rules, either that or Reigns/Ryback vs Kane/Show.

Why does this match keep happening? They feuded for what felt like two months in the build up to the Rumble. Their matches always suck, mainly because Show can't move, and Reigns always wins.

The Big Show is fucking huge man. It's a wonder Reigns can keep battling with that giant, there's no better way to show off his power and dynamic moveset than showing that he can topple this behemoth time after time.

I bought Mark Henry during his Hall Of Pain push. Ever since then though, nah. Show's even worse though.

Because they're trying to get Reigns over, so they're naturally pairing him with the most athletic and technically gifted guy on the roster.

It's typical booking to try and get your powerhouse wrestler over. Putting a powerhouse - someone with great strength and agility - against a giant can be a great way to highlight the performer's strengths. Their speed will stand out against a larger, slower opponent. And by overpowering a much larger opponent, they impress fans with their incredible strength. If done right, it's one of the best ways to let fans know what the powerhouse can do.

Big Show has played this part for a bunch of guys in the past, and it often worked extremely well. He did it against Goldberg back in WCW. He did it with Lesnar back when he first made his debut. And Cena when he was getting pushed up the card (though lets not get into his more recent matches with Cena).

There are a few problems with using this booking for Reigns now though:

1) Everyone is bored to tears by the Big Show at this point.
2) It's likely Reigns isn't strong enough to overpower Big Show. He rarely lifts his opponents as it is.
3) Big Show is too cumbersome these days to sell someone's offense in a way that makes it look impressive.

So I can see why they're doing it, but I can't see why they haven't figured out that it's not working yet.

This is kind of the problem with the roster as it is currently constituted. It's like they went from too many giants to now they aren't developing any in any real way. Rusev is monster heel of a different kind, but there isn't anyone that's debuted in the last few years that you could count as a giant.

And that's a problem because a credible giant can be a huge asset to a wrestling company looking to build faces.

I think it is pointless and boring they maybe have one idea what to do with both of them so they keep making the same match. I hope someone gets involved so they can feud with someone else

I'm not sure they can. Show can barely move in the ring nowadays. Only so much Reigns can do against someone who is so useless as an in-ring performer now.

Well, in fairness this is the dilemma the WWE faces with the modern smark crowd. If you put Reigns against an over and exciting heel that could help him in the long run, most fans in the crowd won't give that story a chance to develop and will instead cheer the heel and boo Reigns right off the bat.

If they put him against a heel the crowd either hates or is completely tired of and don't want to see that heel win at a minimum they can at least get them to back off booing Reigns.

It's a real catch-22.
