WWE and steroids

Postby PorkChop » Jan 30, '14, 9:29 am

Saw a thread on an MMA site about whether Lesnar ever took steroids, even though he never tested positive during his tenure in the UFC. Got me thinking about modern-day WWE and steroid usage.

Do you suspect any current WWE wrestlers of steroid usage? If so, which ones?

Do you think that steroids will always have a place in professional wrestling?

I think there are still some guys that use steroids and are more or less on a never test list: Cesaro, Barrett, Big E, Cody Rhodes, Otunga, Ziggler, Cena, Ryback and Titus O'Neil are all guys I would wonder about. Not to say they all do use, but I just have some speculation.

I suspect a lot of guys may have juiced on their way to the top. I mean it would be so hard to regulate with all of the Indy feds that exist. So yeah I think that there will always be steroid use in wrestling. That said, I am not sure what policies if any that WWE has in place against them.

It's hard to say who uses, just because a guy is jacked does not necessarily mean steroids. I think guys like Cena who were smaller when they started in the WWE probably earned it. I would have guessed Brock and Batista in the past but not since MMA for either of them. Thing is isn't that what Chris Masters was fired over? But it is hard to look past guys like Edge who admitted to use or Benoit. Scott Hall and other guys have stated that WWE overlooks it if you are making them enough money.

All of that said, if I had to name some people...

-Orton, he's been busted for wellness violations I think one of those may have been steroids. I know people have said they let things slide, but it could have been a way to punish him for something else.

-Big E, Ryback, Mason Ryan may. I mean I get that some guys are legitimately big, but DAMN.

-The rest are hard to say, because I would not have guessed Edge or Benoit. Like it or not anyone returning from injuries is a candidate since they can speed up recovery. So Rey, Bourne, Tyson Kidd, etc. are not even close to being guarantees but they could be. Same for anyone who gets injured.

-The Miz looks pretty big for such a small guy but now just looks small and a bit pudgy.

I never like to speculate about any specific people using steroids, because it's completely unfair to that person's reputation.

However, I would absolutely say that it'd be completely naive to think that there isn't at least a fairly decent amount of people in the locker room who either are using or have used.

I'm sure there's still steroid usage in WWE, but not nearly to the level it used to be at. I actually think the Wellness Policy is pretty legit, I'm sure it doesn't catch everyone, and I don't know how often they test either. I would imagine guys who are injured and need to get back as soon as they can would be more tempted to risk it, especially given a dog eat dog world where your spot can easily be lost to someone while you're out.

But when you consider the sheer number of big, brawny guys from the 80's and 90's who have admitted to using them, I'm sure that it's far less prevalent of a problem now.

I would say Big E is, as well as Ryback. I cant ever prove it, but I swear I've gyno on both of them.
