Your favourite PS1 games?

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater was the bomb. I must've clocked up so many hours on that game. The school level was my favourite.

What were your favourite PS1 games?

Crash Team Racing. I preferred it even to Mario Kart. The Spyro series were pretty badass as well.

Oh man, it's so hard to even come up with a comprehensive list. PS1 had the best collection of games on any console in history, if you ask me. No other gaming library had that kind of volume, variety and quality. Obviously if you count the PS2 being backwards compatible, then it has an even better library. But there's far more quality on the PS1 than the PS2 in my opinion.

I loved some of the old 3D platformer games. I wish we'd see more of those nowadays. Exploring these colourful worlds and finding hidden areas made up some of my favourite moments in gaming. Some of the best were: Medievil, Crash Bandicoot, Spyro the Dragon. I'd kill for Medievil to be revived as a franchise. It's one of the most underrated games ever made.

The Driver games were amazing. I had a soft spot for the top down Grand Theft Auto games too.

Some of the stranger racing games were a lot of fun: The Wipeout series, Speed Freaks, Crash Team Racing, Rollcage. I spent loads of time setting course records in Cool Boarders and competing with my brothers.

So many hours were spent on making stages on Tony Hawks Pro Skateboarding. Soundtracks were always cool too.

I still replay the first two Tomb Raider games every couple of years. They're still brilliant. Great atmosphere, exploration and puzzle solving all through those games. The new ones are okay, but they fail to recapture the magic.

I might have spent more time playing Tekken 3 than any other game. I was unbeatable with Yoshimitsu. :P

Then Resident Evil (before it went shit) and Silent Hill were there to scare the shit out of us all as kids. This console had everything. I wish this level of choice could still be enjoyed on modern XBox/Sony consoles.

Destruction Derby - Amazed hasn't been a next gen release for this, absolutely loved it!
FIFA
Driver - Fact that the only thing you did was drive and not be able to go out of the car and explore, kinda made the game fun. Just simplicity. I can't really remember the missions but just the side-games.

Yeah I just enjoyed playing the exploring version where I'd drive around Chicago raising hell and avoiding police chases on the highway, tearing through Wrigleyville and driving around the pier section.

Did anyone have the old Grand Theft Autos? Back when it was a bird's eye view and your machine gun shot bright blue pellets?

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 is one of the most perfect video games ever created. I was also big on Tekken 3, Gran Turismo, Parappa the Rapper, JetMoto, and Fighting Force.

Star Ocean: The Second Story (I seem to remember this game was epic in scale for the time)
Suikoden I and II (These were my two favorite games ever, and I still love them to pieces)
Tenchu 2
Silent Hill 1 and 2
Tony Hawk 1 and 2
Final Fantasy 7
Chrono Cross (Another of my absolute favorites)
Parasite Eve
Xenogears (I don't remember this one too well, I just remember it was fantastic)
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (Easily in my top ten of any generation)
Super Puzzle Fighter 2 Turbo

Damn if I made a list of my top 20 favorite games of all time the PS1 would take up a bunch of spots. I forgot how awesome the library was.

Spyro The Dragon, always. In fact the first 3 Spyro games were/are fantastic, it all went to shit when Insomniac stopped making them.

I was also partial to a bit of Rayman, Smackdown 2 and Crash Bandicoot Warped as well.

After years of waiting and giving up the PS3 finally got Suikoden 2 on the PSN. I bought it the second I found out. It's worth every cent of that 9.99. Check it out!

Also Resident Evil 2 & 3 are both on sale on the PSN for 2.99 each. Great deal. Actually just about all RE games all the way up to 6 are on sale.
