Windows 10 FREE

Postby Locke » Jan 21, '15, 5:09 pm

Owners of legitimate Windows 7 and 8 copies will get a FREE upgrade to Windows 10 (but they must claim it within the first year of Windows 10 being released).

That's.. something. o_O

Whoah, that's pretty awesome. I'll definitely be taking advantage of that, assuming the OS seems worthwhile.

Windows 8 is disappointing, but I can deal with it. Either way 10 can't be worse... but then again this is Microsoft we're talking about. I'll wait for the reviews to come in before taking the free upgrade. Either way sweet deal.

I hated Windows 8 at first, but since the 8.1 update I think it's the best version of Windows yet. It's great on phones, too (Windows phone master race reporting in)

Windows 10 looks great. I can't wait for it.

Yeah I'm using 8.1, so maybe that has something to do with it. But there are actually certain features of it that I like quite a bit, like the screen splitting for example.

I'm not familiar, what does this entail?

I don't really have a good way to describe it, so here's a screenshot:

So does this treat each split as a full screen with its own boundaries etc? Otherwise I can essentially do that by snapping Windows in 7, unless I'm missing some functionality.

Yeah. I didn't know that was a Windows 7 feature as well... if it was, I never knew about it. Windows 8 makes it easier at least in that you just click and drag at the top of the screen to where you want the boundary to be, and then it creates a second screen, where you can either have the desktop open or another program.

Windows 8 also seems to boot up a lot quicker than Windows 7, which for someone without a SSD that's nice.

You can screen split in 7. You could do it in Vista too but fuck Vista.

To me it feels like a tablet OS then windows, I been looking at the previews of 10 and they seem like a hybrid of 7 and 8.

Just hope we can disable the tiles they make the OS look awful well that what I think.

Anybody actually have Windows 10 yet and is it worth it? I honestly don't have a problem with Windows 8.

Had to post up on this. Windows 10 turned out fucking amazing (if you knew how to hide ads, which was pretty up front and easy to do).

That being said, I fucking hated this update.

I had so many fucking 80+ year old people upgrading their shit on accident, because it was applied like a regular Windows Update.. but it screwed up SO MANY COMPUTERS! So so so so many could not boot after the update. Fucking computers that could barely handle Windows 7 were slurping down that 10 update and shit was blue screening all over. Yeah, I made about 4,000 dollars in a few weeks, I could have made probably 40,000!! But I had to fix like 40 different computers a day and half the people I wouldn't charge because they were SO OLD AND FEEBLE. Think Adam Sandler's "Happy Gilmore" and the nursing home scene, I wasn't about to make some poor grandma pull landscaping duty so I ate the cost of my personal time and only charged if I had to add hardware (like harddrive or RAM etc.).

"FREE WINDOWS 10" fucked me. Did it fuck you? Call 1888fuckdme

Luckily, I've not had major problems with it at work or at home although tbh I haven't bothered to fully spend investigating its possibilities.
