Google reportedly planning to pull the plug on Google+

... at least as a social network, anyway. It might still exist but they're reportedly going to dismantle it significantly.

Can't help but laugh - it's easily the worst idea Google had and was never going to take off.

It was actually a fantastic idea -- they had a great interface and it was actually easier to use than Facebook. However, they completely botched the launch and marketing of it, and ruined it by making people integrate all of their Google accounts together with Google+ so early on.

Google+ had immense potential in the early going, but Google tried too hard to make it the new Facebook rather than market it as something new, a viable alternative.

Since it never really caught on I am not surprised they are pulling the plug on it. I have used it but since there not a lot of people that I know use it so I stopped using it. However the Google Hang out feature is better then Facebook by miles it seems that messages get sent right away then the delay I get using facebook to chat with friends.

Still never got one. Well, I sorta did. Google forced my accounts into "having one" but I never once even loaded the panel.

Am I right in saying this doesn't affect Google Hangout? I thought Hangout was part of Google+ but yeah, remember when my Youtube account got all messed up because it affected the comments part of videos where you couldn't write comments on videos. That or I'm talking about something completely different lol
