Your First Console

Postby Fatman » Oct 10, '13, 7:20 pm

My parents had some old Ataris around and an NES, but the first console that was actually given to me was a Sega Genesis. I still own the console and most of my earliest gaming memories are dominated by Sonic The Hedgehog 2, Zombies Ate My Neighbors, Gunstar Heroes, Earthworm Jim, Battletoads, Streets of Rage 2, etc.

What was the first console you guys owned?

A gameboy. My dad had one and gave it to me when i was about 4. It had a wretling game inside. Started my interest in botj wrestling and video games at the same time. The first tv consoles i played were the N64 and PS1 when i was 5 because a kid in my dads building had one. The first tv consile i owned was a PS2 which i got on release day and still play to this day.

My first was the NES, which came with Super Mario/Duck Hunt. Anyone who had it would remember having to blow on the cartridge and inside the system when it wouldn't work. Man, the hours I spent on Zelda, Double Dragon, and Super Mario 3 when I was supposed to be doing homework or sleeping.

I used to go play Nintendo at my friends' houses all the time, but my first actual console that my family owned was a Sega Saturn. Yeahhh... :lol

Soon after that we go the original Playstation.

My parents let me play their original NES when I was a kid and then they got me a red original Gameboy and SNES. Funny story about my SNES I actually left it on pause too long and somehow it blew up my console and TV :lol still to this day do not know how it happened :lol

My first console was a TV Boy, it had something like 127 games, most of which were fairly terrible, but I loved it nonetheless.

After that i think I got a Sega Megadrive, my friend a few doors down had a SNES as well, so we were fairly happy

This was basically my situation too. I lived Sega Genesis (referred to as Sega Mega Drive over here) when I was a kid. I was addicted to the Sonic games. Defeating Zombies Ate My Neighbours was one of the greatest achievements of my childhood. Toejam & Earl: Panic on Funkatron took up a lot of my time too.

And there was a whole bunch more - Streets of Rage, Golden Axe, Ristar, Flinstones, Micro Machines, Earthworm Jim, Jungle Strike, Skitchin, Vectorman, Pitfall ... holy crap I'm tripping on nostalgia right now.

When I finally got my Sega, oh man Tojam and Earl was the shit, i could play that for hours... well if my mum allowed it. I also remember loving Ecco the dolphin, but i cannot for the life of me remember why
