Rate the last video game that you've played

Postby JDD » Feb 23, '14, 1:50 am

A spin-off of the movie rating thread, here we rate the last game you played. Even if you only played it for 30 minutes, still give it a rating.

Pokemon Y- Bought this last week and have been playing it non-stop. I was mever the biggest fan of Pokemon video games, but i still love this. The visual improvements are great, and the grinding is a lot less tedious then the older games. Dont know how much lasting power it will have once i finish the game, but fr now its loads of fun. With this game and the new Zelda out and some great games like Smash Bros coming soon, now is definatley the time to get a 3DS.

I'll do four, in order of when I played them.

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate - Probably my favorite game to date in terms of gameplay. I'm a huge fan of the Monster Hunter series and I'm trilled that 4 Ultimate in 2015 will have Online play and its usual features will be improved upon as always. Only reason I'm not giving it a perfect score is because there's a lull in the middle where you basically have to repeat most of the quests you've already done, on a slightly higher difficulty. And farming can be a real pain in the ass sometimes.

9.5/10

Fire Emblem Awakening - I feel this game is kinda overrated. There's nothing to do after you beat all the quests in the main story mode, except train your heroes, and I didn't find that very exciting. Wasn't about to pay money to download a couple maps from the E-shop either. It's a fun game for a bit but not really much beyond that. I played a similar game prior to this, which was Lord of the Rings the Third Age for the GBA, and I liked it more than this one. That game had trolls, elephants, and ents that you could use as units and they made the battles a lot more fun. Fire Emblem had a couple basic classes of units, and that got lame after a while.

7/10

Pokemon Y - Mixed feelings about this one. The graphics were really awesome as expected, but I feel like that is the only thing that could truly give it an edge over Black/White 2, which was my favorite game in the series up to that point. The biggest criticism I have with this game was the storyline, it was really boring and felt like a 100% copy of the story from every single other Pokemon game ever. And I'm not talking about the pick starter, 8 gyms, Pokemon League formula, but other stuff like the very generic evil team, choosing your fossil Pokemon from the cave, that kind of stuff. It felt like they went really lazy there and didn't do anything remotely new or different. Also, there wasn't that many new Pokemon and only 3 legendaries. And not much to do after beating the League. The online features are the best they've ever been for Pokemon and I love how you can raise your know team with the XP Share now. But overall, it feels painfully obvious that they are waiting for Pokemon Z to really give us the total package for the 6th Generation.

7.5/10

If Pokemon Transporter counts, I'd give that a 0/10.

Skyrim - This game is a masterpiece. It really does feel like a work of art. That is basically everything good I could have talked about in a nutshell. The combat is what really prevents it from being a perfect game in my view though. It's rarely difficult so you don't really get a sense of accomplishment when you beat a boss.

Alright I guess the last game I had open was Crusader Kings II. If you're not familiar it's a grand strategy game where you take control of a dynasty from the middle ages and basically try to amass as much wealth/power as you can through war, marriage and intrigue. It's an incredibly complex game and I pretty much suck at it, most of my playtime has been me trying to conquer Europe with Scotland and my vassals all end up hating me and I'm thrown in prison with all my titles taken away. :lol

Despite that, I still enjoy playing it and I'd like to get better at it sometime, I suppose I'll give it a 7/10.

File shared Payday 2 with a friend a couple days ago. Played it for the first time with him today for about 3 hours or so. The game is great so far. Only complaint is that the AI partners are pretty dumb. Itd be alot better if we had a full team of 4 instead of just us 2. Other then that, game looks good graphically, and is lots of fun. Im not sure if its possible to complete the heists and robberies without someone tripping an alarm. Everytime we try the cops end up coming somehow. Still lots of fun so far.

8/10 for now. Id probably bump that to a 8.5 or 9 with a full team of 4.

Been playing Loudout lately, 8/10. Would rate it higher but need friends and alcohol to be much fun, and my liver needs a rest after EC.
